Kansas City Current, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City Team Up for Fifth Annual Sideline the Stigma Event

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Sept. 10, 2026) – Current Landing announced today that Pitchside is expanding its brand into an all-day social drink destination in a new permanent home on the Missouri Riverfront. Owned by six current and former NWSL players, the brand will be moving its brick-and-mortar location from the Crossroads to the emerging riverfront district this fall. Pitchside is built on a strong reputation and community following and it will include extended evening and late-night hours.

“We’re excited to build on the brand we’ve already created,” said Kristen Hamilton, co-owner of Pitchside and former Kansas City Current forward. “This next chapter will take us beyond great coffee, transforming Pitchside into a destination for coffee, wellness, cocktails and more.”

Designed to serve as a neighborhood gathering place from morning through night, Pitchside transitions seamlessly from daytime beverages and casual meetings into an approachable bar environment in the afternoon, evening and on gamedays. The new location will serve up a new menu that focuses on health and wellness drinks as well as curated cocktails.

Rather than operating as a nightlife venue, Pitchside’s atmosphere will offer a comfortable, energetic and approachable vibe, appealing to professionals after work, sports fans on gamedays, and locals seeking a reliable place to gather throughout the day and evening.

Pitchside’s beverage program will be the trademark of the lounge. These offerings appeal to health-conscious guests and provide a unique alternative to traditional bar menus.

Signature Bar Program

• Five cocktails on tap, including an espresso martini, margarita and rotating seasonal selections
• Curated wine and beer offerings tailored to neighborhood preferences
• Low-ABV and non-alcoholic options integrated into the core menu
• A “Perk Up” option allowing guests to add spirits to coffee-based or functional beverages

Guests are invited to learn more about the new offerings at the Pitchside pop-up event, Coffee and Conversation, this Sunday, Sept. 13, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. CT, where four of the co-owners will sign autographs and chat with guests over cups of java. The current and former players, who are passionate about coffee and connection within the local community, will officially open the permanent location in Current Landing in mid-November.

The Pitchside pop-up trailer is currently open weekdays in the Current Landing promenade from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. CT and will remain in this location through its permanent opening in November. 

To celebrate the trailer pop-up in Current Landing this Sunday, in addition to signing autographs, the owners will provide a special coupon offer to those in attendance. Additional entertainment will include a live DJ, a specialty crepe cart and a preview of renderings of the permanent space. Free parking will be available in the Teal and Red lots next to Current Landing, or guests can take advantage of the KC Streetcar for free.
